Since 1983, starting from a tiny office in Redditch, we have worked with many of the world’s leading engineering companies, who have called on us for our expertise in the design and manufacture of precision engineered components.
Our background was in specialised fluid seals, pushing the limits of pressure, temperature, media, speed etc. Improvement in sealing performance gained by using harder and smoother pistons made from synthetic sapphire was the idea behind forming Oakwade Limited; to improve product performance by making better components.
Early developments were focused on the use of super-hard technical ceramics such as alumina, silicon nitride, zirconia etc. to improve the life of wear parts; balls used in hybrid bearings for example.
We re-located to Hartlepool in 1988, where we are still based, continuing to expand and broaden our range of activities, such as carbon fibre elements for measuring probes and porous PTFE for filters.
Things came full circle in 2007 when we started to produce our own spring energised seals to satisfy the needs of customers for bespoke products made to exacting standards of precision and quality.
More recently, canted coil springs, one of the many energising devices that we use in our seals, have become a major activity for us; contacts for electrical applications, holding and latching for mechanical connectors, shields to protect against RF and EM interference, etc.
We continue to seek out new challenges and look forward to adding to our history, welcoming requests from customers who need solutions to engineering problems where a precision component is needed.
